In the early 1980s then local resident Roy Nightingale took it upon himself to make a photographic record of farming in the area around where he lived - i.e. mainly in the Denby & Cumberworth ward of our parish, (which includes Birdsedge & High Flatts), but extending towards Denby Dale & Clayton West to the east, towards the Holme Valley to the west and towards Gunthwaite & Ingbirchworth to the south.
Roy’s 559 photos are a unique and splendid reminder of our agricultural heritage.
